Creativity

We write to heighten our own awareness of life...We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospection...We write to be able to transcend our life, to reach beyond it, to teach ourselves to speak with others, to record the journey into the labyrinth...to expand our world, when we feel strangled, constricted, lonely. When I don't write I feel my world shrinking. I feel I lose my fire, my color.

- Anais Nin, The Diary of Anais Nin

We do not write in order to be understood; we write in order to understand.

- C. Day Lewis, The Poetic Image

  1. I love your quote from Anais Nin...especially when she writes about tasting life in the moment and in retrospection. How many of life's little moments do we forget because there is no record -- either written or photographic -- to remind us of it. Memories tend to get blurred. That's primarily why I started the blog about my garden and have subtitled it "the story of my vegetable garden this year"! I don't take enough pictures of events in my life, though, and need to start...
